Le cheveu est principalement constitué de kératine, protéine qui lui confère élasticité, résistance et brillance. Elle est synthétisée à partir des acides aminés soufrés, la cystine et la méthionine, sous l’action du zinc et des vitamines du groupe B. La kératine est également un constituant majeur de l’ongle.
