Description
Le krill, également dénommé crevette polaire, signifie «nourriture de baleine» en norvégien.
C’est un zooplancton ressemblant à une minuscule crevette (0,6 à 10 cm) qui vit en banc dans les eaux froides de l’Antarctique. Il fait partie de la plus grande biomasse marine au monde, comptant plus de 85 espèces. L’espèce la plus connue est Euphausia superba.
L’huile de krill offre un mélange d’éléments nutritifs essentiels caractérisé par de grandes teneurs en phospholipides et notamment en phosphatidylcholine, en astaxanthine et en oméga 3 EPA et DHA.
